and so it is...

so shrub just nominated his latest supreme court nominee and the battle ensues. tony and i are big enough geeks that we made a phone date while jama studied to watch it *tony rocks* so anyways...we watched his fumble through his brief and unimpressive speech t hat was aired on primetime tv so that we could distract ourselves from the fact that the real brains of the operation, karl rove that is, has reallllllllly fucked up. too bad he won't have anything happen to him because of it. but thats what you do when you are a bunch of good ol' boys (and condaleeza rice) protecting each other. anyways. i know nothing about this nominee altho i have heard he is not a neo-conservative but conservative nonetheless. tony had heard that both momma bush and laura (aka the psycho stepford wife) are both in favor of protecting roe v wade which i find highly unlikely but stranger things have happened. since the majority of the american public favors protecting our right to choose (hear that you fucking shrub?!) perhaps they have decided to be smart and jump on the bandwagon...but, after all we must consider this...they are only women...and, according to bushie, im sure their minds have not been made up yet...he will do whatever the hell he wants anyways...so...i miss the momentum of the dc march. i need to be revitalized and i am not finding a loud pro-choice lexington community. perhaps more research will yield a better result in the next couple of weeks. despite the fact that i have seen lots of kerry/edwards stickers and lots of fun liberal stickers, i have heard of no pro-choice meetings or fun-times. maybe i will look it up when i return from my trip. it will be a long day tomorrow, and the next couple of days for that matter. i will update more when i return from mom's surgery....
i am also in the mood to watch closer again as i listened to the damien rice cd my brothers burned for me...they are so mean to each other...so realistic...what a good movie...yay julia roberts! yay natalie portman!

...just like you said it would be

"Throughout his tenure in the Dept. of Justice during the Reagan and first Bush administrations, the department actively worked to overturn Roe v. Wade and restrict reproductive rights"

Can you guess who they are talking about? Could it be John G. Roberts, Jr. Good 'ole boy who may very well decide what I can and cannot do with my uterus that is about to be put on the Supreme Court. What is happening?!

Re: ...just like you said it would be

this is happening because bush is a fuck. i saw a quote from sandra day o'connor who believes our good ol' boy is quite qualified (which i do not think is an issue because he obviously is) but she was disappointed because a woman was not chosen. i think it could also be because of his staunch conservative views- particularly with roe. i have seen several quotes since last night that have made his views quite clear. now whether that transcends into from his peronal to his judiciary decisions will remain to be seen. i have heard that he said he will answer no specific questions (ie he will not answer specifically his thoughts on roe) but i think there will be ways around it- especially from edward kennedy. so...we shall see. i am also anxious to see his views on lgbt rights and minority rights. it could be a heated battle despite his well qualified background. i do not think it can be disputed that he is intelligent enough for the position- but dems will need to come up with a better solution than they have in the past...
